A key figure in Subiaco’s football resurgence in the early 1970’s, a young ruck star in its first premiership in 49 years. A Rhodes Scholar (he missed the 1977 VFL season while studying). Mike Fitspatrick was one of the game’s great on-field leaders. He averaged a goal a game in the VFL career but it was his deeds as a captain which won him a spot in Carlton’s Hall of Fame. Played 15 finals at Carlton and is one of football’s most respected and thoughtful observers.
